After 11 scoreless innings, the first run of the Wingnuts’ playoff opener Wednesday night scored … on an RBI-walk.

Johnny Bowden battled back from an 0-2 count to draw a walk with the bases loaded, forcing in John Rodriguez and sending the Wingnuts on the way to a 2-0 win over the AirHogs in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Rodriguez opened the 12th with a single, moved to second on a one-out single by Brent Clevlen and moved to third on a walk to Abel Nieves. Bowden was called on to pinch-hit for Cole Armstrong, and drew the walk. David Amberson followed with a single to score Clevlen.

Junior Guerra started and pitched six scoreless innings for the Wingnuts. Five relievers followed with six scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.

The Wingnuts lead the best-of-5 series 1-0. The series continues Thursday night in Grand Prairie.
