A Wichita delegation led by Mayor Carl Brewer and Vice Mayor Pete Meitzner will be in Emporia on Thursday for the Future of Kansas Transportation summit at Emporia State University.

The summit, which begins at 9:30 a.m., will be led by Gov. Sam Brownback and Transportation Secretary Mike King. It is sponsored by the Kansas Department of Transportation and the Kansas Turnpike Authority.

The summit is a chance, state officials said, for business, community and government leaders to work together to chart a course for growth in Kansas.

Presentations include a panel discussion with industry leaders moderated by Brownback, a keynote lecture by transportation expert Gerry Golden and breakout sessions.
