Arizona State swept No. 24 Wichita State 25-22, 25-9, 25-16 in the La Quinta Inn & Suites Invitational in Orem, Utah on Saturday.
The Shockers recovered to sweep host Utah Valley in Saturday night’s match.
The Shockers (2-1) hit .061 for the Arizona State match, committing 21 attack errors. Arizona State (2-0) hit .330 with BreElle Bailey recording 16 kills and a .636 attack percentage.
Elizabeth Field led WSU with six kills. Setter Chelsey Feekin added five kills, 20 assist and seven digs. Ashley Andrade contributed five kills, but with five errors, and Sam Sanders had five kills. Jordan Hinkle led WSU with eight digs.
Field and Feekin, who were named to the all-tournament team, combined for 23 kills in the victory over Utah Valley. WSU won by set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-19.
Wichita State, which plays at Portland, Ore., next weekend, trailed by as many as five points in the second set.
