The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will operate a “sobriety checkpoint” for four hours this weekend to catch intoxicated drivers.

The operation will be from 10:30 p.m. Saturday to 2:30 a.m. Sunday in Sedgwick County, the office said in an e-mail news release Friday.

Motorists suspected of intoxication will be given field sobriety tests.

“All efforts will be made to limit the interruption of traffic flow, but many drivers will be stopped as part of this program,” the office said, adding that it is part of the commitment to reducing DUI-related crashes.

“We would like to remind everyone to drive safely and not drink and drive,” the statement said.
