Lighter fluid involved in couple’s argument

A woman tried to elevate a heated argument with her common-law husband Sunday afternoon by spraying him with lighter fluid, police said.

But she couldn’t get the fluid lit.

By the time police arrived at the house in the 1300 block of East Selma shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday, Lt. Joe Schroeder said, she had left the scene. That’s southwest of Hydraulic and MacArthur Road.

Schroeder said it’s unclear what the 55-year-old man and 39-year-old woman were arguing about before she tried to set him on fire. Police are still looking for her.

The man was not injured in the altercation.
