Law enforcement officers to ride trains Tuesday

Area law enforcement agencies will conduct a cops on rails operation over a three-hour period Tuesday, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff deputies and officers with the Wichita Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol will ride on trains between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to watch for drivers who fail to stop for approaching trains.

Fines are $195, plus $98 in court costs, for such infractions.
