A 12-year-old Wichita boy was pulled over by Wichita police early Sunday morning in the 3500 block of South Meridian when officers noticed a vehicle that looked as if it was being driven by someone drunk.

When officers stopped the vehicle, they saw the 12-year-old and an adult passenger who appeared intoxicated, according to Sgt. Bart Brunscheen, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

The 12-year-old told police his father was very intoxicated and at home. A family friend, who was the passenger, had come over to the family’s home and told the father he was too drunk to drive but wanted something to eat. He asked the father if he would let his 12-year-old son drive him to get food and the father gave his approval.

The passenger was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and the father was listed as a suspect.
