The Wingnuts lost both ends of a doubleheader on Tuesday at Gary, Ind., falling to the RailCats 7-4 and 4-3

Gary won the opener with a run in the bottom of the ninth. Zac Mitchell led off with an infield single against Andrew Aizenstadt, and went to second on a walk. After an intentional walk Lincoln Holdzkom replaced Aizenstadt. He allowed a walk to Mike Massaro to load the bases, then Ryan Babineau singled to center to end the game.

The Wingnuts scored a run in the first when Ryan Khoury doubled, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jake Kahaulelio. Gary tied it in the bottom of the first and went ahead 3-1 in the third. Wichita pulled even in the fifth on C.J. Ziegler’s 26th homer of the season.

In the opener, the RailCats scored seven runs in the second inning against Chris Smith, making use of six hits, two Wingnuts errors and a hit batter.

The Wingnuts scored single runs in the first, second, third and seventh innings. Ziegler hit his 25th home run in the third.

The Wingnuts played as the home team in the opener. The game was a makeup of Thursday’s rain out in Wichita.
