An 18-year-old man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition Tuesday after he was shot in the 2600 block of North Ash.

Authorities said it appears someone fired at the home, near 26th and Piatt, from the outside. The injured man and others were reportedly inside when the shooting occured around 5:30 p.m. No other injuries were reported. Police were searching for a suspect or suspects Tuesday evening.

The man had improved to fair condition by early evening, a hospital operator said two hours after the shooting was reported.
