A woman checking on a house she owns discovered that a couple had moved into the garage and were doing drugs inside, police said.

The 29-year-old woman was inspecting the house in the 1200 block of South Elizabeth shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday when she heard people in the garage, Lt. Doug Nolte said. The neighborhood is southwest of Seneca and McCormick in west Wichita.

The homeowner called 911 and officers arrested the 32-year-old man and 35-year-old woman when they came out of the garage, Nolte said.

A police report on the case indicates the two broke two windows and knocked down an inside wall.

“It looks like these two individuals had moved into the vacant garage,” Nolte said.

They were booked on suspicion of criminal damage to property, doing meth and other drugs, and possessing drug paraphernalia, he said. The woman was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The house is also vacant, Nolte said.
