A woman has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery and felony shoplifting after resisting officers in the Towne East Square parking lot, according to Wichita police.

Around 4:30 p.m. Friday, police said, loss prevention officers spotted two women, ages 21 and 18, shoplifting at JC Penney and followed them out of the store.

When store officers attempted to detain them in the parking lot, the 21-year-old used a stun gun on an officer, according to the report.

Officers arrested both women. The 21-year-old had been arrested for shoplifting at least three previous times, police said.

Police arrested the 21-year-old on suspicion of aggravated battery and felony shoplifting. The 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor shoplifting.

The officer who was hit with the stun gun did not require medical treatment.
