Two documented gang members were arrested after they reportedly threatened two people with a gun during an altercation in southwest Wichita, police said.
The male suspects, ages 18 and 21, were arrested shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 1900 block of McCormick, not far from where the victims told police they had been threatened, Lt. Doug Nolte said.
A 19-year-old man had gotten into an argument with the two suspects, who followed him to a house on McCormick. They got into a fight, Nolte said, and one of the suspects pulled out a gun and threatened to kill the victim and a woman in her 30s who was also present.
They then left and the victims called 911. Officers responding to the call spotted the suspects’ car just down the street and stopped it, Nolte said.
They found evidence linking the suspects to the reported crime and drugs in the car. The two suspects were arrested, and a third person in the car was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
The 19-year-old man targeted by the suspects is not a documented gang member, Lt. Scott Heimerman said. Investigators aren’t sure what prompted the clash, because the victim “wasn’t very helpful” to police, he said in an e-mail response to questions.
