The search resumed Saturday for a 14-year-old boy who was swept away by floodwaters while swimming in the Big Ditch on Friday. Wichita police said that as of noon, search crews had found no sign of the boy.

The boy went under the water shortly after 12:30 p.m. Friday while swimming with at least two other boys near the Zoo Boulevard Bridge. Witnesses said the boy was pulled under by the weight of his clothes.

Police and firefighters searched the Big Ditch and its banks for eight hours Friday as far south as 55th Street South but were unable to find the boy.
