Wingnuts win eighth straight

The Wichita Wingnuts won their eight straight game on Thursday night, defeating the Rockland Boulders 9-6 in Mona, N.Y.

Wichita set three franchise home-run records in the win. C.J. Ziegler set the Wingnuts’ single-season mark with his 22nd home run in the fourth inning. Wichita hit six home runs as a team, which is the new franchise record. The six home runs also gave the Wingnuts 88 for the season, passing the single-season mark of 86 set in 2009.

John Rodriguez got the Wingnuts off to big start in the first inning with a a two-run home run for a 2-0 lead. Cole Armstrong led off the second with a home run for a 3-0 lead.

In the sixth, Wichita’s Brent Clevlen hit another home run for a 7-4 lead.
