Intrust Bank Arena was recently awarded the International Association of Venue Managers 2013 Venue Excellence Award, which is given annually to one arena worldwide.

Competing venues, who must fill out lengthy applications, are judged on four criteria: service to the community, team building/professional development, safety and security, and operational excellence. Other venue categories include convention centers, performing arts centers and stadiums. Kansas City’s Starlight Theatre won this year’s performing arts center award. Tulsa’s BOK Center won the arena award in 2011.

The arena was awarded the honor at a conference and trade show last week in New Orleans.
