Parents of students in Sumner County and Mulvane will get a little help with this year’s back-to-school shopping.

The Kansas Star Casino plans to give out $100 Visa prepaid gift cards to parents whose children are enrolled in a Sumner County or Mulvane school district.

Parents will be required to show a photo ID in order to claim their cards, Megan Strader, a spokeswoman for the casino, said in an e-mail. Each family will receive one gift card per enrolled child, Strader said. Only the parents or legal guardians of enrolled students may pick up the cards.

This is the second year Kansas Star has distributed the cards. The money comes from the Kansas All-Star Scholars Fund, a $1.5 million scholarship fund the casino set up as a condition of its opening.
