Police are searching for an inmate who escaped from Hutchinson Correctional Facility on Saturday afternoon.

Mark Edward Lucas, 44, left the facility’s minimum-security wing sometime prior to 2 p.m.

Lucas is serving a sentence for aggravated burglary and theft, and still has nearly 10 years left to serve.

Jeremy Barclay, communications director for the Kansas Department of Corrections, said officers are actively pursuing some initial leads regarding his whereabouts.
