My rain gauge is demanding overtime pay.

Dear God: Thanks for the rain. Don’t forget and leave the water running.

Army Pfc. Bradley Manning was found not guilty of aiding the enemy. So apparently the terrorists cannot read English.

Is it possible to run for office if you haven’t had an affair?

Finally, after 2,000 years, the pope invites Jesus into the Catholic faith. “Who am I to judge?” Indeed.

Pope Francis says gays should not be judged. Somehow that message did not reach the priests in the Wichita Diocese. They’re still preaching intolerance from the pulpit in the name of Christ. Shame on them.

Do you ever get the feeling that the apocalypse is actually beginning right now?

Kansas lawmakers drastically slash programs because we don’t have money, yet somehow there’s money to pay for a special session at $35,000 a day. Denying or depriving others of needed dollars while spending freely themselves must seem justifiable to them. I hope Kansas voters see it differently.

WSU president John Bardo makes $345,000 a year. He’s been on the job one year and just got a $15,000 raise. That’s fundamentally wrong in these rough economic times.

The only problem with legislators’ concerns about the salaries at state universities is that they forgot the athletic department. Some coaches in the state earn six and seven figures. The only thing these people provide is entertainment.

Concentrated, privatized wealth or economic democracy? The grassroots must act to create an economy that puts people and the planet before profits.
