A 66-year-old man died Wednesday after his motorcycle veered off U.S. 25 and into a ditch near Colby, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in a crash report.

Robert Petersen, of Brewster, was thrown from the 2004 Harley-Davidson and landed in a corn field on the west side of highway. The highway patrol said he was driving southbound at the time.

The crash happened about 3:25 p.m., 16 miles south of Colby, KHP said.
