Heavy rains could soak the eastern half of Wichita and the metro area early this morning, forecasters say, while western parts of the city may well get a break from any downpours.

The rain should end early in the day in Wichita, however, as the storm system slides off to the southeast. Skies should remain cloudy throughout the day, however, as highs climb into the mid-80s.

Winds will be calm early, then stir a little and be variable late in the day. A slight chance for showers returns Tuesday night, forecasters say, before overnight lows settle in the low 70s.

Wednesday and Thursday should offer a soggy region a welcome chance to dry out, with sunny skies and highs in the upper 80s.
