Wingnuts fall at Grand Prairie

The Wichita Wingnuts lost 7-3 to the Grand Prairie AirHogs on Sunday night at Grand Prairie, Texas.

The Wingnuts took a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning when Abel Nieves reached on a triple and scored on a triple by Madison Beaird, then Beaird scored the go-ahed run on a wild pitch. Grand Prairie took the lead for good on a two-out, three-run home run by Andres Rodriguez in the fifth inning for a 5-3 lead.

Justin Klipp started and took the loss for Wichita, allowing five earned runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings. Klipp walked two and struck two.

Former Wingnuts pitcher Derek Blacksher earned the win for Grand Prairie, allowing three earned runs over seven hits in six innings while striking out four.

Wichita returns to action Monday at El Paso to open a three-game series.
