Dating experiment hits the Web

Since the dawn of time, dating your friends has simultaneously been the smartest and dumbest thing you could do. For every “When Harry Met Sally” moment there’s at least one person who was super-kicked into the abyss while trying to jump out of the Friend Zone.

That’s part of what makes this “40 Days of Dating” experiment so interesting. Basically, Tim and Jessica are two single friends living in New York City who happened to find themselves single at the same time. For 40 days, they agreed to date each other exclusively. They’d see each other every day, go on three dates a week, go to couples therapy once a week, fill out a questionnaire every week, go on one weekend trip together, and not see other people.

Thankfully, they documented the whole shebang and will reveal how it went day-by-day at 40daysofdating.com.

These two deserve a research grant because this is exactly the kind of experiment people need to see play out as they rate strangers “hot” or “not” on dating iPhone apps.
