County residents can take paint, chemicals and fuels such as gasoline to the site for proper disposal.

The site will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 512 E. Madison in Derby. There will be no charge for dropping off materials.

The county also is offering coupons for free disposal of up to 1,000 pounds of bulky waste such as appliances, electronics and furniture. To get a coupon, go online to www.sedgwickcounty.org or call 316-660-9110. Residents must provide their name and address.

Coupons must be used by Oct. 17. They can’t be used to discard tires, items with Freon or hazardous materials. Coupons also are not available to businesses.

The coupons can be used at the Waste Connections Transfer Station, 4300 W. 37th St. North, or the Waste Disposal LLC Transfer Station, 5550 W. 55th St. South.

In addition, the county’s free storm debris collection site for tree branches and brush still is open at 63rd Street South and Meridian near the Big Ditch.
