Wingnuts roll to 10th straight win

The Wichita Wingnuts won their 10th straight game, defeating the Sioux City Explorers 7-2 on Sunday night at Sioux City, Iowa.

The Wingnuts are now tied for the second-longest winning streak in franchise history. The team record is 11 straight wins, set last year.

Former Wichita State pitcher Anthony Capra was dominant against Sioux City, striking out a season-high 11 and allowing two earned runs over six innings for the win.

John Rodriguez his a two-run home run in the fourth inning to extend Wichita’s lead to 5-1. Sioux City scored its final run in the fourth.

The Wingnuts extended their lead to 6-2 in the fifth after a throwing error by Anthony Kaskadden on a groundball by Rodriguez.

Josh Stone, Lincoln Holdkom and Daniel Bennett combined for three innings of shutout relief for Wichita.

The series continues Monday night in Sioux City. The Wingnuts return home Thursday against Lincoln.
