Wichita weather: Hot and windy

Wichita can expect a hot, windy and muggy day today, forecasters say.

There’s a slight chances of showers and thunderstorms in the morning, but otherwise temperatures are likely to climb into the mid-90s under mostly sunny skies. East winds will be in the teens, with gusts approaching 25 miles an hour.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms will linger into the evening before skies begin to clear, forecasters say. Easterly winds will retain their robust tendencies overnight, with gusts reaching 25 miles an hour.

Friday is likely to be mostly sunny and hot, forecasters say, with highs climbing into the upper 90s. Winds will shift to the south but remain gusty at times, again reaching the mid-20s.

The weekend figures to offer more heat, with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid-90s.
