He became so annoyed with the loud music being played by his west Wichita neighbors early Tuesday morning that he went over and threatened to cut them up with a knife if they didn’t turn it down, police said.

They slammed their door in the 6900 block of West Shade, near Central and Tyler, at about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday and locked it, Lt. Doug Nolte said. But the irate neighbor returned with a knife and kicked the door in.

They called 911, prompting the 30-year-old man to leave, Nolte said. Officers found the discarded knife a short distance away and arrested the man.

He was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of six counts of aggravated assault. The six people in the apartment included a 10-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy, two 15-year-old girls, a 16-year-old boy and a 32-year-old woman, Nolte said.
