I suggest that people just step out on their porches and quietly set fire to their paper money July 1-6. If it would make them feel better, they could hum “America the Beautiful” (since they probably don’t know the words) while doing so. My pets and I would greatly appreciate it.

After the incredibly loud and nearly all-night display of illegal fireworks by my neighbors, I no longer feel compelled to keep my dog from barking anytime he wants for as long as he wants.

If the amount of fireworks consumed this Fourth of July is a barometer, the economy is back.

Thank you, George Laham and Bradley Fair, for the Fourth of July concert and fireworks display. Both were great.

Remember when you couldn’t be given a ticket for failing to wear a seat belt unless there was another violation? Now they are having “special enforcement” patrols just to catch seat-belt violators. It’s all about the money.

Think outside the box, Wichita. I bet if you change the name of the Finney State Office Building to the Brownback State Office Building, the state would not move out.

People who get concealed-carry permits have watched way too many “Rambo” movies.

Concealed-carry has been going on for years – among criminals.

Let there be no doubt that same-sex marriage is a deliberate and conscious assault on religion and all traditional values.

I guess nobody has informed all those heterosexuals who are shacking up about the federal benefits available to married couples. Or do they apply only to married homosexual couples?

I didn’t know there were so many angry people with regard to how others shop. Slapping someone over grapes? Sounds like a Republican thing. From politics to social issues and now even shopping, no room for tolerance or difference of opinions.

This year is already half over. Are you happy with the first six months? Or do you need to make some changes?

The article “Movie’s tornado advice upsets weather officials” (June 30 Local & State) did not explain why there is a greater risk of flying debris under an overpass during severe storms and tornadoes. Is the risk greater there than it would be in the open field?
