  • Published Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 10:35 p.m.

Three Grand Prairie pitchers held Wichita to six hits and the AirHogs beat the Wingnuts 2-1 on Tuesday night in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Jared McDonald’s home run in the third inning accounted for the Wingnuts’ only run.

The AirHogs scored a run in the first when Ryan Pineda led off with a double, and scored one out later on Brian Myrow’s single.

Grand Prairie scored the game’s final run in the fifth. Kenny Held hit a leadoff single, went to third on a base hit by Angel Flores and scored on Brandon Kendricks’ ground ball out.

Wichita started Justin Klipp went seven innings and held Grand Prairie to six hits and one walk, but took the loss.

Grand Prairie’s John Strawn improved to 6-1, and Patrick Mincey picked up his 11th save.

The Wingnuts (28-16) still have the best record in the American Association and have a one-game lead over Gary SouthShore in the Central Division. Grand Prairie (24-18) is second in the South.
