It’s nice that the city is getting behind water conservation with a rebate program. But we bought a home in 2011 and replaced the toilets with low-flow units. We have a rain barrel and an energy-saving clothes washer. We don’t water our grass. Where is our rebate?
If I were a betting man, I would bet everything I have that most of the big oil companies will be around way longer than this country will be.
Our immigration policy should be like a potluck dinner. If you have nothing to bring to the table, you are not welcome.
No one who has entered the U.S. illegally should ever be permitted to become a citizen. If you reward criminal behavior, you promote additional criminal acts with the assumption by those who committed those acts and others that they will also be tolerated.
Kris Kobach may profess that his position gives him time for outside consulting, but the attention it brings reflects poorly on the state. At every place I have worked, if moonlighting or freelancing brings attention (good or bad) to the individual, it is grounds for termination.
Kobach’s smug satisfaction with legislation that isn’t counting ballots of elderly citizens is like corrupt Tammany Hall boss William Tweed’s statement that “as long as I count the votes, what are you going to do about it?” Thanks, Jim Lawing, for going to court for us.
Another IRS official has pleaded the Fifth to avoid testifying. If I get audited, can I plead the Fifth? What is good for the goose, who looks at our tax dollars as the golden egg, is good for the gander.
The Bill of Rights protects us, not the NSA. It does not matter how many attacks the NSA says it prevented. Once granted secret police powers, the NSA will never relinquish them.
Safe drivers slow down when approaching a caution traffic light in anticipation of stopping. Wichita drivers speed up when approaching a caution traffic light in anticipation of running a red light. Wichita is the T-bone capital of Kansas.
I hope the person who carelessly ran over several ducks Thursday morning on Webb Road feels bad. Other drivers were being careful as the ducks were walking across the street.
Thanks to the kind gentleman in the Dillons parking lot who found my keys, which had fallen between the front seats. A little kindness goes a long way.
