Our “Photos of Happiness” project has been instructional as well as heartwarming.

We recently asked readers to submit photographs of things that make them happy, and received more than 165 photos.

Sorting through the submissions, definite patterns emerged. What makes Wichitans happy?

Cute kids. Cuddly pets. Weddings. Anniversaries. Hugs. Kisses. Giant smiles. (At least those are the happy subjects they tend to photograph.)

Today, we are offering a sampling of some of the Photos of Happiness that were submitted. At random, we chose one photographer to win a $100 gift card, and it went to Jennifer Johnston. Her photo shows a grandmother and granddaughter laughing as they wait to board a plane to Disney World.

You can still submit your own Photos of Happiness or view or the full gallery at kansas.com/happy.
