KU Wichita Endocrinology and Mid-America Diabetes Associates will merge medical practices Sept. 1, according to a news release from the KU School of Medicine-Wichita.

The new practice will be located at the current Mid-America Diabetes Associates office, 8533 E. 32nd St. North, when KU Wichita Endocrinology’s lease at Cypress Medical Park expires.

KU Wichita Gastroenterology will also move to the new location, according to the release.

The release did not say how many employees the clinics have or whether staffing or services will be affected by the moves.

A KU spokeswoman said the merger was “mutually beneficial” because both practices needed more space. She said the impact on staff was not immediately clear.

There also was no information available from KU on whether the planned consolidations were related to the state’s funding cuts at the university.
