The ninth annual Working Well Conference, hosted by the Health and Wellness Coalition of Wichita, will be from 7 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Hyatt Regency Wichita, 400 W. Waterman.

Debbie Williams, healthy community director for the Greater Wichita YMCA and the Health and Wellness Coalition, says this year’s theme is Rules of Engagement, which will focus on how employers can get employees to participate in wellness programs.

“We strongly believe wellness programs help with employee morale and health care costs,” Williams said.

“It’s about getting that kind of information out there and for employees to be more involved in their own health and health care.”

Among the featured speakers is Rose Gantner, former CEO of two hospitals for Magellan Health Service and a health management consultant, according to a news release.

Also speaking will be Michelle Segar of the University of Michigan, associate director of the Sport, Health and Activity Research and Policy Center for Women and Girls and a health policy fellow at the Center for Healthcare Research and Transformation.

Al Lewis, former economics teacher at Harvard University and author of “Why Nobody Believes the Numbers,” also is among the speakers.

A pre-conference session from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 19 will be held for an additional charge. The speaker is David Hunnicutt, CEO of the Wellness Council of America.

Working Well Award recipients will be honored during the conference. The award recognizes “outstanding employers in the local market who demonstrate extraordinary success in providing a supportive and rewarding environment for their employees to make positive healthy lifestyle changes,” according to a news release.

This year’s winners are South Central Education Service Center for small employer, Meritrust Credit Union for medium employer and Spirit AeroSystems for large employer.
