Wichita police are investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred in the 1000 block of North Grove, shortly after midnight Saturday.

A 25-year-old man told police he was driving around 10th and Grove, looking for a party a friend was attending when he spotted a large group of men standing outside a house.

The man told police he stopped his car and asked the men if they knew his friend.

One of the men asked to see his identification.

“He took out his wallet, showed him his ID, and then one of the individuals took his wallet, pulled a silver handgun out and told him to get out of the area or he would ‘smoke’ him,” said Sgt. Bart Brunscheen, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

When the 25-year-old man asked for his wallet back, the man said no.

The wallet contained $13 in cash and credit cards, Brunscheen said.
