A Kansas City man has died and as many as eight more people were wounded early Sunday morning when gunfire erupted outside of a private club near 20th Street and Prospect Avenue.

Police in the area heard the gunshots around 3:30 a.m. and raced to the scene to find a crowd of people fleeing on foot and in vehicles. Officers found many people who had been shot who were taken to area hospitals.

Marlon E. Randolph, 23, died and a woman suffered life-threatening injuries.

Other injuries were considered minor, and most of the victims were treated and released.
