Wingnuts beat Sioux City 5-3

The Wingnuts returned to 10 games over .500, beating the Explorers 5-3 on Thursday night in Sioux City, Iowa.

Justin Klipp picked up his first win of the season, holding Sioux City to one run in six innings. He pitched out of two jams, leaving the bases loaded in the fourth inning and pitching around a two-on, no-outs situation in the sixth.

The Wingnuts scored three times in the third to take a 3-1 lead, with Ryan Khoury driving in two runs with a single. Jake Kahaulelio added a two-run homer in the seventh.

Wichita reliever gave up two runs in the ninth to make it 5-3 before Josh Dew came in and struck out Peter Barrows to end the game.

Abel Nieves had two hits and extended his hitting streak to 13 games. Kahaulelio stretched his streak to eight games.
