Beginning Friday, short-term parking at Mid-Continent Airport will be limited to four hours, according to a news release from the airport.

The changes are due to the construction of the parking garage and rental facility for the airport’s new terminal.

Cars left in short-term parking for more than four hours will be charged the maximum rate of $50. Cars left in the lot overnight will be towed.

Previously, people were allowed to park in short-term parking at a rate of $15 for anything more than four hours.

The construction on the long- and short-term parking areas will begin around June 28 and take about 16 months to complete, the release said.

Airport management suggests passengers:

• Plan ahead

• Arrive early

• Use the park and ride lot

• Use the cell phone lot when picking up passengers

Construction progress can be followed at www.flywichita.com or the airport’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
