After being punched in the face and laughed at by bar patrons at BC’s Bar and Grill, 4423 S. Broadway, early Monday morning, a 43-year-old man decided to come back and burn the place down, police said.

He only got as far as the back fence before officers arrived and arrested him on suspicion of arson.

The man was using “some sort of torch,” Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte said Monday, when a passerby noticed him outside. Two individuals were in the bar at the time, police said.

The fence sustained some damage, but the bar itself was unaffected, Nolte said.
