Early Sunday morning, a patrol officer was driving through a neighborhood near 13th and Maize Road when he saw a teenage boy get out of a car and throw a rock through the front window of a house.

The officer stopped the car and found four youths. He soon discovered other areas in the neighborhood that had also been vandalized by rocks.

“They didn’t realize an officer was following behind,” said Sgt. Bart Brunscheen, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department. “As soon as the window was broken, they were stopped.”

All four teenagers were arrested.

The homeowner, in the 10000 block of West Jamesburg, estimated the damage to the window was $2,500.

Brunscheen said the vandalized homes and cars appeared to be random crimes.
