After undergoing surgery on Thursday, a 4-year-old boy who was shot in his north Wichita home is expected to survive, Wichita police said Friday.

The boy is currently recovering at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis.

The boy was rushed to the hospital around 3 a.m. Thursday after four shots were fired at his north Wichita fourplex, one coming through the window and striking him, according to a police report.

Police have said they believe the house was mistakenly targeted in the shooting.
