Staff from Sedgwick County’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility will collect materials such as unwanted paint, lawn chemicals and household cleaners Saturday in Haysville.

Residents can bring the materials to a remote collection site from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in a parking lot at Grand and Seneca in Haysville.

The county’s facility accepts most chemical items found in a household such as paint, aerosols, batteries, used oil, gasoline, antifreeze, pesticides, herbicides, garden chemicals, household cleaners, fluorescent bulbs, propane and medication that is not a controlled substance.

Another remote collection event is planned for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 22 at a maintenance yard at 311 E. Garfield in Cheney and June 27 at a location to be determined in Derby.

The facility at 801 Stillwell in Wichita is open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
