The Dollar General store in the 1600 block of East Central was the target of an armed robbery Wednesday evening, police said Thursday.

Police were alerted of an armed robbery at the store near Hydraulic at 8:30 p.m. Authorities said a man walked into the store and pointed a gun at the employee, demanding money.

The employee complied and put the money in a yellow bag the man was carrying. The loss was a “small amount of money,” Lt. Doug Nolte said.

The suspect was described as a 5-foot-7 black man in his 50s, wearing a yellow and blue polo shirt, blue jeans and light brown boots.
