The Wingnuts grabbed a quick three-run lead but never built on it, and lost to the Goldeyes 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon in the final game of their series in Winnipeg.

Cole Armstrong gave Wichita the lead in the first with a two-out homer that drove in Abel Nieves and John Rodriguez.

Winnipeg countered with single runs in the first, third and sixth innings against Chris Smith to tie the score.

In the ninth, Wingnuts reliever Lincoln Holdzkom retired the first batter but allowed single by Nick Liles and a double by Nate Samson to move the winning run to third. A walk to Tyler Graham loaded the bases, then Amos Ramon’s sacrifice fly ended the game.
