Wichita State University plans to break ground Tuesday for its new residence hall, the university said Monday.

The ceremony is at 1 p.m. in the parking lot north of Morrison Hall. A reception will follow on the front lawn of Morrison Hall, WSU officials said.

A fence now encloses what once were 750 parking spaces between Morrison and Cessna Stadium. Parking, always a challenge during regular semester days, will become more of a challenge when fall semester classes resume. As a result, university officials said, the plot of land near Corbin Hall, at the north end of the campus, is being redone as a parking lot that will add about 400 spaces.
