Probably all federal agencies spend fantastic sums on conferences, seminars and training sessions every year, because, after all, it’s only taxpayers’ money. One doesn’t acquire a $17 trillion debt by being frugal.
The only conference the IRS should be holding is on ethical standards.
I saw that “1984” was published 64 years ago Saturday. Look at the news. And if you haven’t read “1984,” you might want to do so. If you have read it, consider rereading it.
When I’m driving and I turn down a road that is too muddy or too flooded to drive on, I back up and take another route. Too bad Gov. Sam Brownback never learned this.

It would be interesting to know how many people are willing to buy Riverfest buttons to eat at the food court. It lost my business.
It sure is too bad that superheroes are not real. Then instead of fighting among ourselves over politics or religion, we would be fighting over who looks better in tights, Superman or Green Lantern.
