Plea agreement ends trial for man in fatal robbery at North Broadway business

A Wichita man charged with taking part in a convenience store robbery that ended when a clerk fatally shot another robber has reached a plea bargain with prosecutors.

Christopher C. Rollins, 19, who was scheduled to stand trial this week, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery after prosecutors agreed to dismiss a more serious charge of aggravated robbery. A sentencing date has not been set.

Rollins agreed to plead guilty after a judge ruled that his jury would be allowed to see a video that shows Giorgio J. Rock, 16, being shot by a clerk during the Nov. 22 robbery at the KC Gas & Groceries store at 1161 N. Broadway.

Rollins’ lawyer argued unsuccessfully that showing the tape would prevent his client from receiving a fair trial.
