A man in his 20s was critically injured in a shooting late Tuesday, in northwest Wichita, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said.

The shooting was reported shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Woodland, located north of 13th Street and west of Waco. The man was taken by ambulance to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, the dispatch supervisor said; he suffered a gunshot wound to his chest on the right side.

Police officers found the man lying in the backyard of the house when they arrived at the house, the dispatch supervisor said.

No information on a possible suspect had been released late Tuesday.

Police, emergency medical services staff and fire crews responded to the scene, the dispatch supervisor said.
