An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported that Rachael Finley died at Hamilton County Hospital. She died at the crash scene, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

A late afternoon romp on a dune buggy turned fatal for a 19-year-old Colorado woman and injured another person Friday near the southwestern Kansas town of Syracuse, the Kansas Highway Patrol reports.

Rachael E. Finley of Larkspur, Colo., was riding in a 1981 GMC when the 19-year-old man who was driving lost control on a curve, according to an online crash report. The vehicle overturned and landed on the driver’s side; Finely died at the scene, according to the highway patrol.

The driver, identified as Dalton L. Brill of Parker, Colo., was taken to Hamilton County Hospital for treatment, the highway patrol said.

The accident happened about 5:30 p.m. on West River Road, about 11/2 miles south of Syracuse in Hamilton County.
