Wichita police have arrested a 43-year-old man who allegedly abducted and threatened to kill his child’s mother, then drove her to the hospital when she pleaded for release, Sgt. Bruce Watts said.

The 27-year-old woman was apparently at her home in the 2500 block of North Estelle, west of Hillside, when her child’s father “pulled her from the residence by the hair and body slammed her” about 7:30 a.m. Friday, said Watts, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department. After she fell unconscious briefly, the man loaded her into the back of his vehicle, then drove to a “fishing hole,” where he dunked her head in the water and threatened her life, Watts said.

When the woman begged for the assault to cease and to seek medical attention, the man complied, Watts said; police responded and arrested the man after the pair arrived at Wesley Medical Center.

The woman suffered neck and back injuries and a chipped tooth during the attack, Watts said. The man was booked into Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated battery. His bond is set at $75,000, jail records show.
