Wichita State women to play in preseason WNIT

Wichita State’s women’s basketball team will play in the Preseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament in November.

The Shockers are one of 10 teams in the 16-team field coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance. WSU went 24-10 last season, sharing the Missouri Valley Conference title, before making its first NCAA appearance.

The tournament begins Nov. 8. The championship game is Nov. 17. All games are played at campus sites and teams are guaranteed three games.

Pairings for the WNIT will be announced in June. The field also has Georgia State, Gonzaga, Idaho, Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne, Louisville, Loyola (Ill.), LSU, Mount St. Mary’s, North Carolina A&T, Oklahoma, Quinnipiac, Saint Joseph’s, Stephen F. Austin, Stetson and Tennessee-Martin.
