An 8-year-old boy who was found home alone Sunday in south Wichita told police his parents had gone to the casino.

The boy also told police his parents frequently leave him alone while they go to the casino, police Capt. Darrell Atteberry said Monday.

Someone called police about 6:50 p.m. to say the boy was alone in the 4200 block of South Hydraulic, Atteberry said.

Police responded and took the boy into protective custody. As of the time the report was filed Sunday night, police were still trying to talk to the parents, Atteberry said.
